| Lucky Fabb 2014 Recap |

Last Thursday, April 4th, I flew into LA to attend Lucky Magazine's Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference held at the gorgeous SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Lucky Fabb is an exclusive event held twice a year in NY and LA. I felt completely grateful for having received an invite to attend this fabulous west coast event where I could network with brands, designers, fellow bloggers and other influential fashion and beauty experts giving me an experience of a lifetime to expand my knowledge in the world of blogging.

I was also lucky enough to be invited to an pre-conference event hosted by Sexy Hair at a charming restaurant, Duplex on Third, where I was greeted with a pink bombshell cocktail. I also got my hair styled by one of their own very talented stylists! It was also through this event that I met my blogger soul mates, Susan Mulburg of SusanMahlburg.com and Jocelyn Gomez of Get Your Glam On. We hit it off immediately as we became fast friends and I look forward to staying in touch. We already made plans to get together soon!

Friday was the first morning of the conference and there was so much to take in with the topic on the Next Level of Technology with a panel that included Raman Kia, Executive Director of Integrated Strategy at Conde Nast, Stephanie Mark, Director and Co-founder of  The Coveteur, and Hilary Peterson, Head of Business at Lyst. Discussions included how to stay ahead of the curve in an already crowded space, how to make our content stand out and how important social media is in our business.

Eva Chen, Editor-in-Chief of Lucky Magazine and Sophia Amoruso, CEO and Founder of Nasty Girl shared their stories of success. I was so impressed with Sophia's modest beginnings in the basement of her aunt's house selling vintage clothing on eBay and morphed it into a huge online retail empire in 7 short years!

We then broke out into separate rooms to meet and network with brands where we had the chance to try on all the fabulous goodies! One brand in particular was Caravelle New York, a designer of bold, trend-driven watches, who not only let us play dress up with their beautiful line, but they also provided an Instagram printing station to print out our pictures by simply hash-tagging  #cnyfabb.

Next up was one of my all time favorite celebrities, Nicole Richie. She has an impeccable taste for fashion which led to her success in her own fashion line, House of Harlow. She was as down to earth and friendly that she could easily be your best friend. She is in every sense of the word a normal mom and wife, with just a little more celebrity status. She takes pride in being involved with her daughters school, to gardening (while wearing a vintage Chanel fanny pack) to her dreams of owning a restaurant someday. It was really nice to see how real she is. By the way, Nicole just may make fanny packs a future comeback as she puts it "fanny packs are dope".

After a quick lunch, we broke out into workshops to further our blogging learning experience from how to grow your traffic to tips on optimizing your blog posts. Some of the tips we learned were:
1. Don't name your blog pics as 1,2,3 ect. Use keywords like, floral dress, pink scarf, destroyed jeans, this will optimize search results and give you more page views!
2. Make sure your site has absolutely no broken links and a fast upload, no more then 15 seconds, or people will leave!
3. Do not write in a robotic way. You want to sound personable, and have a natural language flow.
4. Sprinkle keywords throughout your post.
5. High comment counts on your blog will increase your search engine optimization!
6. Have the latest content available on your blog. See what's trending on Twitter for ideas!
7. Use sites like Word Tracker to reveal high-proforming keywords to include in your posts!
8. Optimize your images. Save your photos with keywords using "alt text"

We ended the day with cocktails, courtesy of Miss Me and a style conversation with Eva Chen and supermodel Coca Rocha. Not only is Coca Rocha a beautiful woman, but she has so much personality, warmth, and a great sense of humor!  She spoke of her dislike for selfies, saying that if you can walk into a bathroom and take your best duck face pic in the mirror then you should be able to walk up to anyone and say "I love me, can you take my pic?" She also hates to hear people commenting about photographing "real" women, because the last time she checked everything on her is real.  I loved that she was just open, honest and real!

The Lucky Fabb ended Saturday morning with an outdoor brunch catered by the SLS Hotel. It was perfect weather for a perfect ending of this fabulous weekend. Not only did I feel that I was surrounded by so much fashion inspiration from the other ladies around me, but I left with a wealth of information, new friends and a whole new outlook for my blog! It was truly a great experience that I hope to be invited to the next one!

  3. Hi Erica. Sorry, I started following you a while ago but hadn't been here in a while and the last time I was here I didn't have time to comment.

Anyway, you look gorgeous both in your Mint Jeans Outfit, but especially wearing that Floral Chiffon Dress. I have heard great things about this event from other bloggers too, so I am glad you enjoyed yourself. And you got to meet Nicole Ritchie - ahhhh!!

I am currently doing a 30 for 30 challenge for this month. I'd love to know what you think of it. Thanks so much and Happy Thursday, Ada. =)
