Emerald And Gold

Emerald is one of my favorite colors. It's described as a color of elegance and beauty, but put it together with gold and it gives an essence of glamour and sophistication. Last Spring I came across this emerald coat on sale at Nordstrom and I am so excited to be able to finally wear it now that the weather is cold. It was the perfect companion to my Ann Taylor gold and black leopard jacquard pants and when I added this gorgeous emerald necklace from Benevolent Jewels, it was the perfect finishing touch to my look.

Winter White With Some Holiday Flare

Fur vest: Jack via Nordstrom | Sweater: LOFT | Pants: H&M (old) but loving these and these | Heels: Zigi Soho via DSW | Necklace: Benevolent Jewels c/o | Clutch: Hello Fab

Hello Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Wow has it gotten cold! It was quite the struggle this weekend taking pictures, it was freezing and the wind was almost unbearable! Lots of hair whipping going back and forth!

For today's outfit I chose this season's hottest color trend - winter whites. Winter white is so classy and simple to pull together with anything. purchased these jeans back in the spring and instantly knew I would get more than one season out of them! A faux fur vest did the trick to give me my wintry look. To give my outfit a little holiday glare, I paired my white jeans with a red sweater and added this gorgeous emerald gemstone necklace from Benevolent jewels for a complete holiday flair.

I am so excited to introduce to you an amazing Jewelry Company, Benevolent Jewels! They are an online store that seeks to spread awareness about the importance of helping others. Every three months they will donate 20% of their profits to a great cause. From now until February 21, 2014, they will be donating to +Works which is a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide positive change by bringing families and schools together to help with the issues of adult and student bullying. +Works strives to spread awareness of the issues of bullying by using innovative approaches that cause adults and children to tackle the cycle before bullying begins and while it occurs.

My blog is primarily about fashion, but when I read about the wonderful causes that Benevolent Jewels promotes with their jewelry,  I knew this was a company that I would love to talk about in my blog as I share a passion for a lot of their causes. Their latest cause for bullying hits close to home for me. I am going to get a bit personal here, which is sometimes hard for me to do, but I feel so passionate about this cause that I wanted to share a little of my story. I, too experienced firsthand just how cruel bullying can be. All through out my middle school years I was harassed and humiliated on a daily basis about my weight. I am naturally thin but I got constantly teased about being anorexic that I would go home crying every single day. I even had the word anorexic written on my locker at school. Girls would make fun of my outfits or purses or shoes. My mom would tell me that these girls were just jealous because I was pretty and had nice things, but I couldn't see it. These girls were pretty and popular. What could I possibly have that they would want? Every night before school I would stare into the mirror for hours picking out every piece of my body that I thought was wrong. I would cry every night praying that the teasing and bullying would go away. What I experienced as a young teenager definitely helped me form into the person I am today. I have learned to except who I am and what God has blessed me with. I also learned that people who do bully really have some deep issues that they themselves are dealing with, but take it out on other people to take away their own pain. I learned to become strong and not focus on what people thought about me but rather focus on what makes me feel good. I learned to love who I am as I learned more about myself after being bullied. As a mother of two young kids, I know that one day they will experience some level of bullying themselves. It is my job as a parent while they are still young to mold them into nurturing human beings and teach them how to respect others. But most important, to teach them to have self confidence and to believe in themselves and know they have self worth. It is also important to share my story because I know so many young girls can relate. Let's spread the word through fashion to encourage everyone to give respect to others because you don't know the lasting effects it could have on someone.

Thank you so much for taking the time out today to read my story!

I hope you all have great day!!

Happy Friday Everyone! Today is another faux fur day for me … I guess you can say it’s faux fur Friday! Yeah that’s a little corny but admit it, it’s catchy! Anyway, this comfy faux fur trimmed cardigan is one that I pulled from the back of my closet and was excited to wear again this winter! I purchased it from the Guess store about a year ago, but it still remains one of my favorite winter pieces. These awesome boots are from Forever 21 and at an incredible inexpensive price tag, but decent quality and comfort, they completed my Friday look!

Be sure to stop by Monday when I introduce an amazing jewelry company, Benevolent Jewels and the wonderful causes they support through the sale of their jewelry!

Have a great weekend!

Daytime Cool

Blazer: LOFT | Sweater: Ten Sixty Sherman via Nordstrom | Jeans: Edyson via Nordstrom (sold out) but loving these | Heels: Ellen Tracy via DSW | Bag: French Connection via Nordstrom

The Loft has been having some pretty amazing sales lately! Last week, I was able to score this faux leather sleeve blazer for half the price! It's definitely a season staple, in my opinion, as the leather sleeves really keep this blazer on trend while also being versatile because it can be worn to the office, or on the weekends with a pair of jeans and a sweater. Naturally I went the casual route, but opted for a pair of heels for a bit more oomph.

Have you found any great sale items at the Loft?

Have a great day!

Leopard and stripes

Blazer: (old) similar here | Shirt: Rubbish | Jeans: J Brand | Shoes: (old) similar   here and here | Bag: J Crew (sold out) similar here and here

As usual, my Sunday was a day full of running errands so I chose a fun and bold outfit to spice things up a bit! One trick to mixing prints is to combine patterns that share the same color palette. The color pulls the outfit together while giving a unique contrast that makes it work so effortlessly.

I picked up these super comfy black J Brand jeans from the Nordstrom half yearly sale and paired it with a striped blazer over a basic black tee.  My leopard oxfords complimented the blazer to give a simple but stylish look.  What mixed prints do you style together for a fun and bold statement?

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Sweater: LOFT | Skirt: Target | Tights: Target | Boots: Ivanka Trump | Bag: (Vintage) similar here, and here

Hello everyone! Yesterday I posted one of my favorite trends which is the houndstooth print! I wanted to show you how I choose to wear this trend, as I incorporated it into a day-time look. I am loving a great A line skirt these days. (last seen here). I was so excited to find some at Target last week, not only because of the price, but the fit was perfect. To keep my look casual, I went with a simple bold color sweater and my all time favorite Ivanka Trump over the knee boots. I can't express how amazing these boots really are. The fit, and the quality are just top notch. I completed my look with my mom's vintage rhinestone suede cross body that she recently handed over to me. Its right up my style ally and will be a forever favorite of mine.

One of this season’s great classic looks is the revival of the versatile houndstooth pattern. There are so many fashion options that allow you to dress it up or dress it down and take it from day to evening. Try a great pair of houndstooth flats and pair them with slightly distressed jeans, or how about a houndstooth skirt accented with a colorful blouse, or even a great houndstooth dress for the holidays? Anyway you wear it you are sure to create an eye popping look!

My favorite houndstooth look is this exquisite coat by Zara that I would just love to add to my winter wardrobe soon!

What houndstooth attire will you be sporting this season?

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see how I incorporate this trend into my look!

Colors Of Autumn

Sweater: LOFT | Jeans: Flying Monkey Jeans via Tobi | Boots: Madden Girl | Clutch: Louis Vuitton | Earrings: Benevolent Jewels

As seasons change so does the palette of fashion colors.  Winter is right around the corner, so this is the last chance to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors to match the falling leaves that autumn brings us.  I chose today’s outfit to represent my favorite season, as I love the combination of the bold color of this peplum sweater and rust colored jeans. These beautiful earrings add the finishing touch to compliment the total fall look.

Rainy Day

Dress: Old Navy | Jacket: Collection B via Nordstrom (old) similar herehere and here | Boots: Tommy Hilfiger via DSW | Hat: Target | Umbrella: Amazon

Hello Everyone! Hooray, it's Friday!! I am looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend with my family!

It rained all day yesterday but that didn't put a damper on my daily outing. Usually I would choose to wear a comfy pair of jeans and rain boots but I had this great dress in my closet that I had just purchased from Old Navy a couple weeks ago. The snakeskin print of this shirt dress is one of my favorite looks. Pairing it with a pair of Tommy Hilfiger wine colored booties and matching colored hat added a pop of color to a rather dreary day

Have a safe and fun weekend!

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share this amazing leopard print collar pea coat that I found at the Loft recently. It comes in two colors, black and Alpine green which is what I am wearing. Such a great coat to own this season, as it can be easily dressed up or down and the collar is removable which makes it all the more versatile!

How gorgeous is this necklace from Benevolent Jewels? It is such a great statement piece to add to any outfit that will instantly make it shine!
